Thanks Reva, I think I remember meeting you way back when. Mercedes was not ill, just sad with who whe was and with her life. Even though to us she was doing great, with her two kids, her career etc.

Thank you, Ivan, for your courage and strength, turning “poison into medicine” in your life. I was close to your sister Mercedes, at SUNY Albany from 1979, when I started college, until her son was a baby. Then we lost touch. I find it hard to believe that someone so life-affirming could commit suicide. Was she ill? My heart goes out to you, and of course to Barbara, Esperanza, Sandrita, and Nico. My daughter and I cried together when we recently read your family’s story on line, for I had mentioned Mercedes to her more than once as a dear wonderful friend I once had.

Thank you so much Michael. Believe my success is partly thanks to you, Jessica and the other folks who have shown me the way to start my own journey.

With the work that you all have done, I’m truly inspired and motivated to do my part. eventhough I’m turning 50 shortly, I feel that I have a lot to offer, by sharing what I have learned from you and others, and to teach those in my immediate are how to run in a safe, efficient and happy manner.

I’m sure our paths will continue to cross as we spread the word of Joyful living and the benefits of Barefoot Running. As a start, I have accepted the role to lead the Rhode Island Chapter of the Barefoot Runners Society.

Please feel free to share my story with others as you see fit.

Thanks a metric ton for sharing this link with me Ivan. This has really motivated me to push through my frustrations with starting BFR and really shows me how great of a community there is surrounding it.
